In a study of over 7,600 births, those attended by midwives had lower cesarean rates (8.9% vs 15.2%) — even when factoring in mixed-risk pregnancies. Midwifery care was also linked to fewer inductions, fewer operative deliveries, and lower rates of severe maternal complications.

So no, midwives do not equal riskier outcomes. They’re for women who want evidence-based, individualized care that respects the natural process of birth, and still knows when intervention is truly needed.
