I am concerned about the proposed requirement for midwives to explain personal financial responsibility related to malpractice. As a consumer, this information would not help me make safer or better decisions about my care. Instead, it could create unnecessary fear or confusion at an already vulnerable time in pregnancy.

The proposed revisions significantly expand the Informed Choice and Disclosure Statement in ways that go beyond what is mandated in statute. I respectfully ask that this form remain focused on health, safety, and care options rather than on my provider’s personal financial situation.”

I think sometimes people imagine home birth is just lighting a candle and hoping for the best. (I mean, we love a good candle, but there’s a lot more to it!)

One of the best parts of midwifery is that you get the clinical standard of care but delivered in a way that actually honors your space and your pace.

Low-risk home birth care includes the same “stats” as hospital care:
• Standard blood work & labs
• Genetic screening
• Anatomy scans/ultrasounds
• Full newborn clinical exams

The clinical safety is there, and it doesn’t involve fluorescent overhead lights, but maybe a good candle.

One of the most common questions we get is how we keep a close eye on you and baby while you’re tucked away in the birth pool. The good news is that we can provide all the safety and monitoring of a typical birth without ever needing you to leave your happy place!

We use a special waterproof Doppler to listen to baby’s heart rate right under the water. It’s simple, non-invasive, and lets us hear that beautiful rhythm while you stay relaxed. Along with checking on baby, we stay right by your side to monitor your vitals, like your pulse and blood pressure, using our standard equipment.

The warm water is incredible for offering natural pain relief, but our priority is always a safe delivery. We monitor both of you very closely throughout the process. If we ever feel we need more frequent monitoring or if things get a bit more complex, we might ask you to step out of the pool for a little while.
